When Ulli Matiegka told TEA last year that she wouldn't organise any more TEA Summer Schools I took over
from her not knowing what the experience would be like. After planning the event in detail for about
10 months I was quite nervous when I arrived at Hotel zur Post in Laaben one day before the participants
would arrive. Would everything work out in practice that had been carefully planned in hundreds of e-mails?

At the end of a week full of information, interaction and learning I knew that I had been extremely lucky in the choice
of trainers for "my" first Summer School: Mark Fletcher from Folkestone and Matt Firth, University of Augsburg,
were not only competent trainers, who taught us how our brain works and how to use this knowledge in EFL-classes,
how to use DVDs and the Internet in class, how to draw most like Picasso and how to text like the
young generation (an incredibly enjoyable experience for most of us), but hey were also wonderful partners
tand - last but not least - professional entertainers.

I'm sure I'm speaking on behalf of all our participants: We'll never forget Mark's folk song evening in a virtual Irish pub
created with his lovely drawings, Matt's pub quiz, which made a majority realize that we do
have a knowledge deficit in the field of pop music, and above all - the highlight of the week -
Mark's unforgettable introduction to the history of Canterbury, which we all acted out enjoying the activity like children.

I am already look forward to August 2006 when we'll have our 13th TEA Summer School in Leibnitz (Bildungshaus Retzhof)
and I hope I'll meet many of our Summer School family members and some new faces there.
